In 2018, NIM signed cooperation agreements with Zhengzhou municipal government, Yantai municipal government, Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology (SIMT) (for establishing the Shanghai Laboratory of National Time Frequency Center), China National Environmental Monitoring Center, Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), China Jiliang University, and Fudan University. New collaborations in environment monitoring, infrared remote sensing calibration, development of gravity measurement instruments, biology, etc. have been launched.
Every year NIM receives scientists and technician selected and seconded by China regional metrology institutes to NIM for training purpose, and 59 individuals were admitted within the year of 2018, making the total number of all seconded metrologists reaching 660 by the end of 2018. Besides, NIM send 2 staff members to Xinjiang and Tibet respectively, to contribute to the development of western China. NIM also provided a one-year term internship to 8 teachers from China Jiliang University.
