International Organizations Work

The SI revision brings a significant impact on the global metrological system, providing NMIs with new opportunities. Taking this opportunity, NIM sets up its own target based on the global context and continues to promote its global cooperation and establish new partnership. Notable achievements were made, in particular, in assuming more roles and responsibilities in regional and international organizations, updating scientific cooperation with advanced NMIs, and providing technical cooperation to developing NMIs.

China is a signatory to the Metric Convention (a member of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures), and NIM participates in technical activities under the framework of the Metric Convention on behalf of China. China is a full member of the APMP and an associate member of the COOMET. It is also an important member or participates in the activities of international organizations such as VAMAS,OIML, IMEKO,ISO,IEC and JCTLM.

On November 13 to 16, 2018, the Chinese delegation participated in the 26th General Conference of Weights& Measures (CGPM) and took part in the discussion and decision-making on the redefinition of the International System of Units. Duan Yuning, Vice Director of NIM, was successfully re-elected as a CIPM member and continued to serve as Chairman of CCT. China is committed to continue to support and participate in the BIPM's Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer.

In December 2018, the Director of NIM, Mr Fang Xiang was elected as the chairman of the APMP for a term from 2019 to 2022. NIM would assume the work of the APMP Secretariat during the same period.
