The National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China hosted the Training Workshop on PV Metrology and Testing, supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of China and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). The workshop concluded successfully in April after a two-week programme. Twenty participants from 15 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America completed the training.
The workshop focused on key techniques in photovoltaic (PV) metrology, covering metrological traceability, PV module testing, spectral response calibration, and reliability testing. Combining theoretical lectures, hands-on laboratory training, and technical exchanges, the programme was designed to enhance participants’ technical competence in PV metrology and testing while sharing the latest developments and practical experience of China's photovoltaic industry.
At the closing ceremony, Dr. Qu Jifeng, Vice Director General of NIM, expressed his hope that the participants would serve as a "green bridge" connecting China and the rest of the world by applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop to the development of metrology and the photovoltaic industry in their respective countries. He also expressed NIM’s willingness to further strengthen international cooperation in areas including metrology comparisons, joint standards development, and international mutual recognition, thereby supporting the global energy transition through accurate measurement.
