NIM Hosts APMP-TCI Training on Production of CRM for Organic Calibrators

The National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China hosted a training course on “Production of CRM for organic calibrators”, an initiative launched by the Technical Committee for Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (TCQM) of the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP), in March.

The training course, open to all APMP members, was conducted in two phases. The online theoretical session, held from March 16 to 18, attracted more than 80 metrology professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region. The hands-on laboratory training session, which took place at NIM from March 23 to 27, brought together eight trainees from the Philippines, Malaysia, Mongolia, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and Viet Nam.

In a video address at the opening ceremony, Dr. Tang Lin Teo, Chair of APMP TCQM, highly commended NIM’s efforts in supporting capacity building in chemical metrology within the Asia-Pacific region and congratulated the organizers on the successful launch of the training programme.

The course, delivered by 12 experts from NIM, focused on key technologies involved in the production of CRM for organic calibrators. Combining theoretical lectures with group-based hands-on laboratory exercises, the programme was designed to enhance participants’ technical competence.

Dr. QU Jifeng, Vice Director General of NIM, attended the closing ceremony and presented certificates to the trainees. In his remarks, Dr. Qu emphasized that NIM is committed to contributing to capacity building of APMP developing members, fulfilling its responsibilities as an APMP member. He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support that NIM has received from fellow APMP members.

The Technical Committee Initiative (TCI) is a programme established by APMP to support technical exchange and collaborative activities among its technical committees. This training course was jointly supported by a APMP TCI project, an APMP Developing Economies’ Committee (DEC) project, and NIM. The training aimed to strengthen the technical capabilities of developing economies in the Asia-Pacific region in the field of organic reference material development, promoting regional collaborative advancement in chemical metrology.
