The 18th plenary meeting and associated technical training of Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions (COOMET) TC 1.2 (Acoustics, Ultrasound, Vibration) was held at NIM from 24 to 27 September 2024. The event was attended by about 30 participants from NIM, VNIIFTRI, BelGIM, UzNIM, AzMİ, VNIIM, UME, Tajikstandard, CJSC and HAARI. Dr. YANG Ping, Vice Director of NIM, delivered welcome remarks, which underscored NIM’s commitment to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with members in line with the strategic plan of COOMET. The remarks received positive responses from all participants.
In the TC 1.2 meeting, all participants reviewed the work on comparisons, application and reviews of calibration and measurement capabilities (CMCs). The progress in Acoustics, Ultrasound, Vibration (AUV) field of APMP, EUROMET, IEC TC87 as well as COOMET TC1.2 members were reported and discussed. Dr. Alexander ISAEV from VNIIFTRI, Chair of COOMET TC1.2, made a report on the hydrophone calibration in underwater metrology. NIM also provided technical training in the field of acoustic and vibration metrology, covering new methods for low-frequency vibration calibration, microphone and hydrophone calibration by optical methods. All participants showed great interest in the training and made thorough discussion on the technical issues.
COOMET was founded in 1991 and is one of the six regional metrology organizations recognized by the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM). NIM joined COOMET as an affiliated member in 2016 and participated in 11 technical committees, including TC1.2 Acoustics, Ultrasound, Vibration, TC1.3 Electricity and Magnetism, TC1.7 Photometry and Radiometry, TC1.8 Physical Chemistry, TC1.10 Thermometry and Thermal Physics, TC2 Legal Metrology Quality Forum (QF), etc. For years, NIM has actively participated in and led COOMET conferences, regional comparisons, technical trainings, and other activities.
