YANG Ping

Dr. YANG Ping is Vice Director of the National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China, senior researcher and quality manager of NIM. Dr. YANG has a long working experience in scientific measurement research and quality system management. He has led or participated in more than 10 scientific research projects, published over 50 SCI/EI-indexed papers, and has won a number of ministry-level scientific awards.

Prior to his current position, he has served as Deputy Director of Mechanics and Acoustics Division, Director of Metrological Services and Quality System Department, and Director of Mechanics and Acoustics Division, successively.

In his capacity as NIM’s Vice Director, Dr. YANG supervises General Office, Department of Metrological Services and Quality System, Department of Infrastructure Construction Management. He also works as the liaison with the Division of Mechanics and Acoustics, Division of Electricity and Magnetism, Division of Electronics and Information Technology, Center for Engineering Metrology (Center for Measurement Testing and Calibration), Center for Reference Material Development and Management, and Center for Metrology Scientific Data and Energy Metrology.

Dr YANG liaises with the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and the three National Quality Inspection Centers hosted by NIM, and presides over the “digital transformation” task of NIM. He has served as Chair of the APMP Technical Committee for Quality System (TCQS) from 2019 to 2022. He was elected as Deputy Chairperson of the OIML Digitalization Task Group (DTG) in October 2022.
