NIM is composed by organizations of two different natures: non-profit-making organizations established for public service purpose and supported by the government, as well as 3 affiliated bodies.

Non-profit-making organizations include administrative departments, nine laboratories, department of facilities management and office of the second experimental base.

In 2007, staff of non-profit-making organizations approximately totaled 600, with the average age down to 41. Among them, 8% have got doctoral degrees, 24% got master’s degrees and 50% are bachelors. 7% of the staff are research fellows, 30% are associate research fellows or senior engineers, and 38% are research associates or engineers.
