Development of Preparation for Freon Standard Gas Mixture of Trace Level by A Novel Technique

 

Summary

In recent years, greenhouse effect and global warming has become one of environmental concerning focuses. Some species of Freon gas is banned for industry use because their harm to ozone-layer. Freon of trace level in atmosphere monitoring is an important way to control Freon emission. Freon standard gas mixtures are in demand in environmental monitor. In this project, Freon of trace level (100nmol/mol) will be prepared by a novel technique called Small Amount of Gas Transfer Technique. Here the Small Amount of Gas Transfer Technique will be developed to prepare standard gas mixtures, which has a simplified diluting process and is more efficient.

 

Description

Three kinds of 8 kinds of Freon standard gas mixtures of trace level are developed in this project. A novel technique was applied to prepare gas mixtures by gravimetric method. Comparing to traditional methods, the dilution process is much simpler in this method. Different analytical methods were used to verify short and long term stability of the 8 kinds of Freon standard gas mixtures by different apparatus. The expanded uncertainty is less 1%.

 

Major accomplishments

After conclusion of this project, 3 classes of 8 kinds of Freon CRMs will be developed in environmental monitor. Analytical methods of Freon gas standard mixtures of trace level will be established. A small amount of gas transfer technique to prepare CRMs of trace level by gravimetric method will be developed.
