Development of Variable Temperature Blackbody Sources Radiance Temperature Calibration Facility

 

Summary

(-30℃~962℃) variable temperature blackbody sources radiance temperature calibration facility consists of standard blackbody sources and multi-wavelength radiance temperature compare thermometers (0.66μm, 0.9μm, 1.5μm, 2μm, 4μm and 8-14μm). The variable temperature standard blackbody sources include a low temperature bath blackbody source (-30℃~50℃), a water heat pipe blackbody source (50℃~275℃), a Cs heat pipe blackbody source (300℃~600℃) and a Na heat pipe blackbody source (500℃~962℃). The best calibration standard uncertainties are 0. 04℃~0. 25℃.

 

Description & Major Accomplishments

Radiation characteristic of blackbody radiation sources depends on temperature and spectral emissivity. Many blackbody radiation sources can only realize removable contact thermometer trace to ITS-90 because the emissivity of blackbody radiation source is difficult to be measured accurately. The radiance temperature was not able to be effectively traced to ITS-90.

 

This project aims to develop a multi-wavelength radiance temperature calibration method, whose best calibration standard uncertainties are 0. 04 ℃~0. 25℃.
