The 80-Meter Large-scale Dimensional Standard

 

The 80-Meter Large-Scale Dimensional Standard is composed of an 80-meter accurate guide rail, a large-scale laser measurement system, an ambient temperature measurement system and an automatic control system. The standard reaches an uncertainty of (0.1μm+2×10-7L), k=2 and is used for calibrating distance meters, laser interferometers, laser trackers and laser Lidar measuring system, etc.

 

China’s first 80-meter large dimensional standard was established by NIM. It passed validation and received approval by authorities recently. The equipment can be applied for dimensional measurement in a range of 80 meters. It satisfies the demand for calibration of some large dimensional instruments such as distance meters, laser interferometers and laser trackers. The standard ensures the reliability and high accuracy of measured dimensions, breaking through and filling the blank for high accuracy measurement for dimensions larger than 50 meters in the nation.

Large-scale coordinate metrology technology has had a tremendous growth with the development of manufacture industries over the last 15 years. In China, there are an increasing number of devices and instruments, such as laser distance meters and laser trackers widely used in manufacturing industries. However, the measurement and calibration standards could not satisfy the demand for large scale measurement.

 

The project aims to establish a standard for large scale dimensional metrology on the basis of the existing standards of 26-meter, 34-meter and 50-meter dimensions. It is to provide calibration services to industries including surveying and mapping, engineering measurement, earthquakes precautions and related fields where large dimension measurement instruments are widely used.
