The third meeting of the International Advisory Board of NIM held in Beijing The 3rd annual meeting of the International Advisory Board (IAB) of NIM was held at NIM Changping Campus on 26 August 2011. The IAB is composed of four senior experts from the international metrology community, including Dr. Barry Inglis, President of the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM), Dr. Michael Kuehne, Director of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), Dr. Terry Quinn, Emeritus Director of the BIPM, and Dr. Hratch Semerjian, former Chief Scientist of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States. IAB members reviewed the developments of NIM over one year and had discussions with NIM staff on a number of issues from strategic planning, to human resource development and specific research programs. Then IAB members visited some laboratories and then had focused communications with selected divisions. IAB members also paid a visit to the NIM-Tsinghua University Joint Institute of Measurement Science. The IAB was set up in 2009 as a high-level advisory body of NIM providing recommendations on strategic planning and key metrology development initiatives. see also: NIM Home Page |
