Enhance Metrology Innovation, Underpin Economic and Social Development

Mr. Zhang Yukuan, born in March 1954, graduated in 1980 from Peking University, majoring in Quantum Electronics. His technical title is senior economist.

Mr. Zhang joined NIM in Mar. 1976, initially working as an assistant engineer in the Division of Time and Frequency, and then as Deputy Director and Director of the Personnel Division. From Nov. 1993 to July 1998, he acted as Vice Director of NIM. In1998, Mr. Zhang transferred to the China Quality News, a newspaper agency affiliated with the former National Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision(BQTS) (now the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Qurantine, AQSIQ), acting as Director until 2000, and in July 2000, he became Director of the Personnel Department of BQTS. After BQTS was reorganized into AQSIQ, Mr. Zhang acted as Deputy Director of the Personnel Department and then Director of Science and Technology Department of AQSIQ. In June 2007, Mr. Zhang was appointed Director of NIM.
